A theater production that took place in the cultural district of Fountain Square featured several UIndy alumni, faculty, and staff in key roles, both onstage and off. Raft of the Medusa by Joe Pintauro was presented from October 4–13 by The Theatre Within, an outreach of The Church Within, located just a few miles north of campus. Alumni Christie Beckmann ’98, Kirk Fields ’90, and Jeffrey Barnes ’00 were among the cofounders of a company called Theatre Non Nobis in 2002. The group made the church its home in 2011 and recently changed its name accordingly. Its mission is to produce high-quality theater that raises awareness of social issues and promotes positive change.
Raft of the Medusa was directed by Jenni White ’97, and the cast included UIndy faculty member Adam Henze ’12 and UIndy staffers Fields and Barnes. Other offstage contributors included Danielle Buckel ’11 (costumes/props) and UIndy staffers Beckmann (sound design) and Lucy Fields ’91 (light and sound operator).
