Mary Faye Scull Stauth ’32 died August 30. She was a retired school teacher at Elizabeth Elementary in Corydon,  Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Francis; two brothers, Jordan and David; sister, Velda; and granddaughter, Shannon. Survivors include sons Denny, John, and Mark, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She lived in Corydon.

Versie Jolliff Ault ’35 passed away August 10. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur; daughter, Kay; son-in-law, Harold; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She lived in Terre Haute, Ind.

Helen Ramsey Riggs ’35 died September 18. Survivors include sons Thomas and David, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She lived in Ft. Myers, Fla.


Mark Braford ’40 died on September 11. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Mitchell Braford ’41; son, Mark; daughters, Barbara and Ann; six grandchildren; and sister, Margaret. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph; brother-in-law, Loran Mitchell ’44; and sister-in-law, Emma Zieder Mitchell ’42. He lived in Greenwood, Ind.

Annabelle Campbell Bowers ’42 passed away August 19. She was a real estate agent in Sarasota, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Bowers ’42. Survivors include sons Randy, Roger, and Rick; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She lived in Sarasota, Fla.

Frances Keeling Sanders ’44 passed away August 27. She taught third grade at New Market Grade School in New Market, Ind. Survivors include her daughters, Patsy and Becky; three grand-children; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, William, and brother, Glen. She lived in Lagoda, Ind.

Kenneth Barker ’40 died August 24. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a project superintendent for Geupel-DeMars, then a general superintendent for Ellis Construction, and retired as owner of Kenny Barker Con-struction. He is survived by his wife, Gayle; sons, Andy and Monty; brother, Dwight; three grand-children; and one great granddaughter. He lived in Plainfield, Ind.


Garold Muncie ’50 passed away on December 9, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Wertz Muncie ’45; daughters, Vicki, Janice, and Phyllis; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He lived in Plano, Texas.

Marion Wells ’50 passed away on September 4. He was a retired elementary school teacher for Greenfield Central School Corporation in Greenfield, Ind. He is survived by his wife, Mary, five children, one step-child, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He lived in Greenfield.

Jack Andrews ’52 passed away August 14. He lived in Indianapolis.

Catherine Sommers Burleson ’52 died June 19. She is survived by her sons, Thomas and Jay; daughter, Carol; brothers, Louis and Dave; sister-in-law, Helen; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Burleson ’53, and her brother, George. A retired Indianapolis Public Schools teacher, she lived in Raleigh N.C.

Max Moore ’52 died May 21. He was a retired assistant principal from Columbus East High School in Columbus, Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; children, Steven, Deborah, Jeffery, Pamela, and Jennifer; brothers, Jerry and Larry; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He lived in Columbus, Ind.

Glen Todd ’54 died September 6. He worked in Eli Lilly’s pathology department in Indianapolis. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Scott Todd ’57; children, Donna, Diane, Ronald, and Richard; brothers, John and Robert Todd ’44; sister-in-law, Ardith Kitterman Todd ’66; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He lived in Sarasota, Fla.


Sam Young ’64 is an ordained minister of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. He served as senior minister for four congregations in Indiana and completed an interim ministry at North Christian Church in Fort Wayne. He lives in Huntington, Ind.

William Benson ’67 passed away Sept. 15. He was a retired middle school teacher at Shelbyville Central Schools. He lived in Shelbyville, Ind.

Alberta Hensley ’69 passed away May 12. She was a retired director of special projects at the University of Akron in Ohio. She lived in Akron.


David Boggs ’70 died August 9. He had served with the 101st Airborne Division, receiving two Bronze Stars in Vietnam.  He went on to own the Super Shuttle at Denver International Airport. Survivors include his mother, Florence; sisters, Judith and Mary Lou; brother, Jeffrey; stepdaughters, Melissa and Laurie; and two nieces, two nephews, three grandnephews, one grandniece, two step-grandsons, and one step-granddaughter. He lived in Denver.

JoEllen Spencer Manship-Loo ’70 is a cancer survivor and has returned to teaching and playing music. She and her husband, Patt Loo, played recently at the Arts Garden in Indianapolis and at the Indiana State Fair. She lives in Indianapolis.

Robert Buchanan ’71 is a senior vice president and chief information officer at Auto-Owners Insurance in Lansing, Michigan. He lives in Lansing.

Lyle Boughton ’72 died May 19. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired as a traffic manager at Allison Transmission Division of General Motors in international sales. He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Kathryn; grandson, Thomas, granddaughter, Christine; and sister, Jane. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew. He lived in Carmel, Ind.

Barbara McClure Barnett ’73 passed away September 27. She was a retired teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools. Survivors include her husband, James; stepson, James; and one granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She lived in Indianapolis.

Cleo DeHoff Simpson ’74 passed away June 13. She taught second grade in Youngstown, Ohio, and at Clinton Young Elementary in Indianapolis. She is survived by her husband, James; son, Timothy; grandchildren, James and Wendy; step-children, Jan and James; four step-grandchildren and one great grandson; and two sisters, Marjorie and Ida. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol; two brothers; and two sisters. She lived in Franklin, Ind.

Margaret Laverne Haverstick Connelly ’75 passed away July 15. She was a guidance counselor at New Palestine High School in New Palestine, Ind. She is survived by her sisters, Tanya and Jau Nae; brother, Steve; two sons, Bob and Paul; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald. She lived in Beech Grove.

Lewis Smith ’75 passed away July 16. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Lori, Teri, Luann, and Tammy; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandson Kyle. He lived in Indianapolis.

Gloria Gradeless Danielson ’76 ’96 is a personal injury trial attorney, focusing on medical malpractice, at her own law firm, Danielson Law Office LLC in Greenwood, Ind. She lives in Greenwood.

William Nichols ’76 passed away September 12. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; children, Timothy, David, Penny, and Melissa; eight grand-children; and sisters, Judie and Mary Anne. He lived in Beech Grove, Ind.

Ann Laramore Johns ’83 died September 28. She was a social worker at Noble of Indiana in Indianapolis. Survivors include her husband, Randy. She lived in Indianapolis.


Alan Grieger ’84 is a project controller for Exxon Mobil Corporation. He lives in Sugar Land, Texas.

Mary Jane Moshenrose Mattingly ’84 passed away on July 12. She was a retired legal secretary at Barnes & Thornburg, LLP in Indianapolis. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; daughter, Jane; sons, Bill, Tom, Casey, Patrick, and Andrew; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She lived in Indianapolis.

Anne Smith Okey ’85 died October 7. Survivors include her daughters, Theresa and Maggie; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and aunt, Agnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and son, George. She lived in Brighton, Mich.

Beth Ann Myers Schwitz ’85 is an English teacher at St. Joseph’s High School. She lives in South Bend, Ind.

Ronald V. Morris ’86 was honored for outstanding achievement in historic preservation, receiving the annual Servaas Memorial Award. He lives in Centerville, Ind.

Ida Herrera Nieto ’88 is a home health occupational therapist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mishawaka, Ind. She lives in Converse.
