Spring Classnotes: 1970 to 1999

Ralph Schrage ’70 died November 9. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an accountant at the Army Finance Center. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; son, Gary Schrage ’89; daughters, Donna Richards and Sue Gregory; several siblings; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He lived in Indianapolis.

Steven Wittenauer ’71 retired as superintendent of Benton Community School Corporation in Fowler, Ind. He is the founder of Administrator Assistance, an educational consulting company. He lives in West Lafayette.

Bernice Spieker ’72 died January 14. She is survived by her children, Joseph Spieker, Mary Spieker, and Regina Gregoire ’78; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Arthur Day; and sister, Charlotte Allison. She lived in Greenwood, Ind.

Virginia Shelton ’73 died October 4. She was a retired administrator for the California Department of Fish and Game. Survivors include two nephews and one niece. She lived in Merced, Calif.

Earl Scott ’76 is the program coordinator at PathPoint in Chatsworth, Calif. He lives in Sherman Oaks.

Dennis ’75 and Valerie Stutler ’76 both have retired from teaching at Sunman Dearborn School Corporation in Brookville, Ind. They live in Batesville.

Guy Carnine ’76 passed away January 9. He is survived by his wife, Betty Carnine; son, Justin; daughter, Joslyn; three grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Carson. He lived in Grapevine, Tex.

R. Michael Cagle ’77 was awarded the 2010 Realty Alliance Award. An associate broker with F.C. Tucker Company, he lives in Greenwood, Ind.

Elizabeth Denison ’77 is a selector/packer at Anchor Glass Container in Lawrenceburg, Ind. She lives in Lawrenceburg.

David Stone ’77 lives in Kingston, Jamaica, where he is the consul general for the Department of State at the American Embassy.

Terry Penrose ’78 died October 2. He was director of operations at Magnavox Electronic Systems for Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Jan; children, Shelley and Brett; granddaughter, Arielle Best; mother, Elma Penrose; brother, Larry; sister, Ada Seelinger; and many nieces and nephews. He lived in O’Fallon, Mo.

Patricia Mansfield ’80 is the principal at Fishers Elementary in Fishers, Ind., and an adjunct professor of teacher education at UIndy. She lives in Carmel.

Karen Pierce ’83 is director of professional education and distance learning at the American College of Sports Medicine in Indianapolis. She also lives in Indianapolis.

Linda Bohannon House ’84 ’92 is the executive director of Cancer Services at St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis. She also lives in Indy.

Anna Markey ’84 is a medical practice secretary at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She lives in Glendale.

Linda Pinkston ’85 died November 19. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Sexton; son, Randy Pinkston; sister, Janet Franklin; and four grandchildren. She lived in Indianapolis.

Callie Woodford-Taylor ’85 passed away October 8. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Taylor; daughter, Candace; mother, Mildred Woodford; sisters, Clotilia Turner, Beryl Moore, Denise Shirley, and Bernita Woodford; and brothers, Wade Woodford Jr., Roderick, and Derrick Woodford. She lived in Indianapolis.

Cecil Bowen ’86 passed away August 6. He lived in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Ronald Morris ’86 received the Leadership in History Award of Merit from the American Association of State and Local History for his lifetime of service to the field of public history in Indiana. A professor at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., he lives in Centerville.

Richard Hammond ’88 is the marketing director at Newell Rubbermaid in Huntersville, N.C. He also lives in Huntersville.

John Parrish ’88 ’91 died October 27. He taught at St. Jude Catholic School. Survivors include his mother, Janice Ann Kohl Meyer Parrish, and sister, Mary Parrish. He lived in Indianapolis.

Paul Chen ’89 is project manager for John Wiley & Sons in Indianapolis. He lives in Fishers, Ind.

Edward Dobrzykowski ’89 was promoted to system director at Rehabilitation Services and Sports Medicine, St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Ky. He lives in Florence.

John Ford ’90 is deputy sheriff at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. He lives in Lebanon, Ind.

Rob Hadley ’90 was named the 2010 assistant principal of the year by Indiana’s Association of School Principals District 10. He is an assistant principal and head wrestling coach at Rushville Consolidated High School. He lives in Rushville, Ind.

Carol Hatfield ’90 is the data coordinator for international enrollment & special programs in the Registrar’s Office at UIndy. She lives in Indianapolis.

Opal Ruth Penelope was born to Karen and Walter Braunsdorf ’93 on April 10. Opal joins siblings Ayr’un, Justin, and Mariclare at their family home in South Bend, Ind.

Stacey Hissong ’93 married Mark Dybala on Oct 16. She works for St. Vincent New Hope in Indianapolis. The couple lives in Indianapolis.

Ian Michael McCullough was born to Gwyles and Mary Millman McCullough ’96 on October 25. Ian joins siblings Matthew and Samuel at home in McCordsville, Ind.

Olivia Antolin was born to Allison ’98 and Royce Antolin ’09 on May 3. The family lives in Indianapolis.

David L. Carney ’98 has been named president of Terenine Technology Solutions in Chattanooga, Tenn. He is responsible for the company’s growth and oversight of its strategic direction as it expands into new markets. He will focus on improving operations, client relations, product strategy, and sales and marketing, as well as the launch of new products and services. He joins Terenine after 10 years with KAR Auction Services, Inc., where he had been the vice president of Technology Services.

Andrew Kocher ’98 and Jennifer Moyer were married October 23. Andy is director of development at UIndy. The wedding party included Jason Fetherolf ’98, Lisa Kocher Bohacik ’04, and Chris Gilmartin ’00. They live in Indy.

Stephanie Willison ’99 is a partner at Sherman & Armbruster PC Invest-ment Management Services, in Greenwood, Ind. She lives in Indianapolis.

Ayla McKenzie Douglas was born November 5 to Dan and Rachael Bozek Douglas ’99 ’01. Ayla joins her sister, Ella, at their family home in Grand Rapids, Mich.
