Hearts for Haiti

Students have "Hearts for Haiti" as they raise money for those effected by devasting earthquake
UIndy junior Caitlin Deranek, a member of the University’s United Methodist Student Association, posts another heart on the dining room windows in Schwitzer Student Center after collecting a donation for Haiti relief efforts.

With an impoverished haiti reeling from a devastating earthquake, Uindy students and staff have risen to the call.

“Hearts for Haiti,” a joint venture of the Catholic Student Association and United Methodist Student Association, collected funds to support aid efforts. The annual International Dinner became a silent auction and benefit that raised $3,600. both the Social Work Association and Circle K held bake sales.

The Student Athlete Advisory Council collected loose change for haiti relief during basketball games. Business students who had raised money to attend an academic competition redirected proceeds to haiti relief instead. The operations Management student chapter raised funds with
a poker tournament.

Residence Life organized a “Change for Change” contest and sold carnations. students and faculty in the Department of Music and Mu Phi Epsilon music honor society organized a benefit concert. The Sigma Zeta science and math honor society passed the hat in lilly science hall classrooms.
