Fall 2019: R.B. Annis School of Engineering
Students in the DesignSpine curriculum presented new product ideas to faculty and mentors from Citizens Energy Group, Huntington Bank, and Anthem NGS at the inaugural Business Pitch Competition in April 2019. Following a “Shark Tank”-style competitive format, the teams presented prototypes for a multifunctional charging station, a motorcycle detection system for cars, and an analytical software tool that explored the return on investment of university education.
A 2018 DesignSpine idea has morphed into a finished product. Students recently met with leadership from Citizens Energy Group to unveil a fully functional water distribution system to be used at events where clean water is not always readily available. The system will also help to reduce the use of plastic water bottles and the associated negative impact on the environment.
