Emily Cumberworth ’17 was accepted into Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of 2022 and has completed the first year of medical school.

Hannah M. Nieman ’16 has been hired as a marketing and communications specialist at the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic in Columbus, Ind.
Michaela Fletcher Schroeder ’16 received her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in May.
Jordan Marckel ’15 recently published her first manuscript in the Journal of Drug Metabolism and Disposition in March. Jordan is a fourth year Ph.D. candidate in the Molecular, Cellular, and Biochemical Pharmacology program at the University of Cincinnati. Jordan’s thesis focuses on the in-vivo preclinical development of an anti-cocaine monoclonal antibody and its Fab fragment for the treatment of cocaine abuse.
Kourtney L. Crawford ’14 is the new head women’s volleyball coach at Goshen College in Goshen, Ind.

Kara Woodlee ’09 and Preston Budd ’11 were married August 4, 2018. Kara is a senior academic advisor in the Honors College at IUPUI.
Kelleigh Fagan ’09 has been honored as an Up-and-Coming Lawyer by the Indiana Lawyer Leadership in Law Awards.
Samuel Moya ’09 ’11 has been promoted to vice president of children’s residential services at Damar Services in Indianapolis.
Christa Noblitt Carlino ’09 was elected as precinct chairperson for Wayne Township’s 11th precinct in May 2018. She was also appointed to the Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees in August 2018, becoming the youngest trustee and only librarian on the board. She received the Democratic nomination for the Indianapolis City-County Council District 6 seat for the 2019 municipal election that will be held in November.

Kathleen Gregory ’08 has been recognized by OneAmerica as an ASPIRE honoree as a result of her outstanding performance on behalf of the life insurance, retirement and employee benefits organization.
Crystle Helderman ’07 was accepted to Purdue University Graduate School Brian Lamb School of Communication. She is pursuing a master’s degree in communication with an emphasis on strategic marketing and public relations.

Dr. Joseph M. Donnelly ’05, clinical professor of physical therapy at the College of Health Professions at Mercer University in Atlanta, has been elected to a three-year term as president of the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.
Matthew W. Browning ’04 is the new vice president of data and member solutions at Indiana Hospital Association.
Ben Hilgert ’04 is a member of the Soldier’s Chorus and tours the country with the Army Field Band as ambassadors for the US Army. The group sang during President George H. W. Bush’s funeral.
Jill Gilford ’04 has been selected to receive the 2019 Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award. She is a teacher at Twin Lakes High School in Monticello, Ind. Gilford started a program at her school called Science Buddies, a peer mentoring program that trains high school students to present science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities to first graders.
Ashley “Hoody” Miller ’04 completed her master’s degree in Library and Information Science from IUPUI in December 2018. She and her husband, Justin ’09, live on the south side of Indianapolis with their five children.

Randal Collins ’02 graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2019 with an educational doctorate in organizational change and leadership. Randal also completed his fourth year playing on the USC lacrosse team where he has played midfielder for four years as the all-time oldest player in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association.
Joseph L. Aldridge ’01 has been promoted to deputy chief of support at the Plainfield Police Department.
Monica Lopez ’01 was hired as chief margarita officer for On the Border, the world’s largest Mexican casual dining restaurant group, following a nationwide search.
New Palestine High School has named Erin Clark ’01 its varsity girls’ soccer coach.
Asbury University’s Board of Trustees has elected Dr. Kevin J. Brown ’00 ’02 to serve as the university’s 18th president beginning July 1.

John D. May ’92 ’94 has been hired as a regional sales manager at ATI Decorative Laminates.
Jane Friona ’91 has been named the recipient of the 2019 Behind the Scenes Award from the Emergency Nurses Association. She will receive the award October 1, 2019, during the Emergency Nursing conference in Austin, Texas.
Curtis J. Farris ’91 has been recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional. He works as the regional director of sales at ACV Auctions in Florida.
Jean Kendrick Bell Hughes ’85 has retired after 30 years of teaching music to the community and children of Southern Wells Community Schools.
Kenneth Dale Wells ’81 announced his retirement from the ministry in the United Methodist Church, effective July 1, 2019, after 34 years of full-time ordained service in the South Indiana Conference and Indiana Conference from 1985 to 2019, and one year previous in the Oklahoma Conference from 1984 to 1985 as a full-time local pastor.
Michael Reel ’79 retired after 31 years with Nissan Motor Acceptance in Irving, Texas. He was involved in the football program under Coach Bless, WICR and served as a resident assistant in the Wilmore dormitory the last two years prior to it being demolished.
Bruce Jennings ‘78 was named the 2018 Indiana High School Principal of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Principals. He has been employed by Bremen Public Schools for 40 years.
Jim Thomas ’78 has been promoted to the role of customer support manager with KYB Americas.

William C. Friend ’71 has been honored with the second annual Meritorious Service Award by Indiana Pork.
Vera Blinn Reber ’63 published a monograph in the series “Routledge Studies in the History of the Americas.” “Tuberculosis in the Americas, 1870-1945; Beneath the Anguish in Philadelphia and Buenos Aires” examines patient perspectives and public responses to the changing perspectives of the causes of tuberculosis and considers public health and medical efforts to limit contagion and treat the disease.
Eulala G. Roettger ’39 has been honored in the “Volunteer” category on the Indianapolis Business Journal list of “Health Care Heroes” for 2019.
Two alumni were honored at the National Association for Music Educators awards at the annual Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) conference in Fort Wayne in early 2019. Shaina Liv Lescano ’18 received the New Teacher Award granted by the Indiana American String Teachers Association, and Mick Bridgwater ’73 received the Outstanding Hoosier Musician Award.
