Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning
The Education Workforce Innovation NeCtwork (EWIN) announced three new Education-Workforce Planning Grant recipients for $7,000 each. They include groups led by Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart and Navistar, Student Career Partners for Northeast Indiana and River Forest Community Schools in Hobart. With the grant, each partnership will benefit from EWIN technical assistance through 2019. EWIN is an initiative of the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL), a nonprofit at the University of Indianapolis, which unites districts, schools, communities, universities and businesses to build a sense of urgency and form innovative collaborations for statewide educational and economic improvement.
CELL recently welcomed a new director of Early College Sandy Hillman, and Pam Warner, an assistant director of (EWIN).
Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement
The Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement hosted the Spring 2019 Community Campus Forum and Expo to recognize outstanding community partners and students who raise the bar for service-learning in the community. See a complete list of award recipients and nominees at intercom.uindy.edu.
Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives
The Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives hosted the Sixth Annual Fairbanks Symposium on Civic Leadership, featuring national and local thought leaders who discussed the lasting impact of urban consolidation in central Indiana. “Unigov at 50: The Blueprint of the Urban Midwest?” studied the legacy of merging local governments in Indianapolis and the implications for modern cities that have yet to undergo the process.
UIndy Writing Lab directors, a graduate tutor, and four peer tutors gave five presentations at the 2019 East Central Writing Centers Association conference in Dayton, Ohio. The conference theme was “Soaring to New Heights: Breakthroughs, Inventions, and Progress in Writing Centers.”
